I was abandoned and homeless at the age of six. I managed to scrape money together for food. When I was ten, someone dropped a deck in my collection cup instead of money. I saw this as an opportunity. I dueled for money as I caught on to the game quickly. When I turned fifteen, I took daily walks. That's when a hooded figure grabbed me by the arm. He forced me into a car and drove off. He let me out in a warehouse. There, a man with a gold stick looked over me with piercing eyes. He noticed a deck clipped to my belt. "You know how to duel?" he asked. I nodded, not being able to speak because of shock. He looked over to more hooded people and nodded. "Keep the girl. She may prove useful." he smirked. Two of the figures grabbed my arms and dragged me away.” What is your name?!" I demanded, overcoming my shock. His smirk grew more menacing. "You may call me Master Marik." I struggled out of the grasp of the men and tried to attack Marik. He hit me away with the stick, causing slash on my cheek.
I lay helpless, bleeding. It felt like my life trickled away as the blood flowed. One of the men grabbed me and dragged me away. I blacked out very soon from blood loss. When I came to, I was in a different warehouse. I sat up and rubbed my head. There was a bandage on the slash under my eye. I quickly bolted out of there. One of the guys guarded me to make sure I don't escape. He caught sight of me bolting and gave chase. I was cornered, but in my territory. I pulled out my switchblade. "Come any closer and you'll end up like me, only there is no one here to hear you scream." He backed off. I started to climb the fence. He tried to grab me by the tail. I turned back and plunged my switchblade into his hand. As I jumped over the fence I said “Where I come from, we aren’t afraid to attack. Unlike you.” I ran off with a serpent night dragon following me.
When I figured I was in the clear, I interrogated the serpent. He told me that Marik gave him an actual form and as long as he was with me, I was immune from Marik’s mind controlling tricks. We fight constantly, but he’s bounded to me by his destiny. Since then, I’ve dueled and earned quite a name for myself. People are surprised to meet the greatest Maha Vailo duelist in the country. Just to think, a mangy homeless girl with switchblade, knife, and ice pick scars all over can defeat some of the greatest duelists in history. Even though I have earned respect from fellow duelists, I haven’t earned respect from other homeless people. When you live on the streets, it’s survival of the fittest. We will fight physically over even a bit of food. I have a small alleyway to myself. Mainly because I am the best armed. I managed to get my hands on two revolvers, so that usually gets me shelter, water, and especially food. The next runners up for the most powerful street livers were those who had ice picks. It’s very, very hard for me to go through one day without wondering, ‘What did I do wrong? Did my parents not love me?’ Though I had many, many questions about myself. The biggest one that pops up the most is, ‘Why?’ Why did my parents abandon me? Why did I have to live in agony? Why do I even exist if I have no purpose or significance? Everyday I go through the agony of those questions racing through my head. I have met friends throughout my miserable life, but the one me and Serpent will always remember is Yuzie. Yuzie was awesome, she would hang out with me and give Serpent food. She was a Rare Hunter much like myself. She was my best friend, like no one else. But then, she disappeared. We never found out where she went or what happened to her.
The story of my YGO character, Jade.
